Category: Instructional, Self Defense, Pressure Point
Year: 2003
Director: Scott Rogers
Summary:
Learn how to handle most attack situations with a minimum of training time. Training includes how to release any hold, knockout your attacker (real knockouts are taught and demonstrated), defend yourself from rear attacks (chokes, bear hugs, etc.), handle yourself if you should be knocked to the ground (escape the mount and prevent it from occurring). Also, learn to defend and counter the most common and most powerful type of punch you are likey to encounter in a violent assault. These techniques are taught as if you had no prior training, but are equally valuable to the trained martial artist.

There is a reason why this title has been on Bushido's Most Popular Titles list for so long! This dvd is jam-packed with content, there wasn't an ounce of excessive repetition with regard to the techniques shown, the techniques kept building on one another, thorough yet quick explanations were made on everything, the instructor even covered a couple of "what if's", and the dvd has a separate page that allows you to view and select any specific technique and jump right to it. Get ready to take notes and learn.

Excellent practical self-defense moves for anyone. The techniques taught do not require any martial arts background. I'm teaching the moves to my wife and daughter. I hope he comes out with a DVD to protect against knives/guns/etc.

Outstanding video for sure. Applicable to any style and any belt level.

pretty practical skills even to a novice

Very basic but effective techniques. Good for people with no martial arts training. I doubt some of the pressure point attacks, but good info nonetheless.

I have to disagree with the other reviewers here. This dvd is almost like a comedy sketch that runs too long. He shows maybe one or two ok moves here but not 12. This is that old school karate approach where there is alot of fancy looking blocks and "magical" pressure points while your attacker remains motionless. If you want a quick laugh then fast forward thru this one and then return it. Otherwise look elsewhere

As usual,Rogers does a great job of teaching, organizing, and demonstrating. The selected defenses are a good mixture for all around perspective.
Rogers could select better students to demo on. Oftentimes they appear to have never practiced the moves beforehand.
Overall, a good well balanced lesson!
